Lawrence O’Donnell, host of a cable news show on MSNBC, recently made a vicious, anti-Christian slur.
In an interview, O’Donnell called the Book of Revelation “a work of fiction” that portrays a “a truly vicious God.” He further stated that “no half-smart religious person actually believes the book of Revelation.” And even called God a “malicious torturer and mass murderer beyond Hitler’s wildest dreams.”
Although the Book of Revelation is subject to many different interpretations, the general message of the Book is very clear: God will vindicate His people and judge the world in righteousness through His Son Jesus Christ. The fact that Lawrence O’Donnell finds the message objectionable does not change that fact.
To condemn God as a mass murderer belies O’Donnell’s proud heart. What ought to amaze O’Donnell is that God has been so patient with a creation that refuses to believe and repent of their many sins. Exalting sinful man and debasing a Holy God is the common way sinners rationalize their rebellion.
God has made a gracious way of escape from his wrath through faith in His Son. The fear of the Lord remains the beginning of wisdom.
O’Donnell either doesn’t believe in the God of the Bible in all His fearsome wrath, nor in the Gospel of Jesus Christ who promises eternal life to all who put their trust in Him. No wonder he’s lashing out.
Even still, if he had said this about any other faith he would have been canned on the spot.

Dear Mr. Cass,
As you may know, many Christians have been offended by recent remarks said by you regarding the book of Revelation.
What you may not know is that the Bible is a unique book in that it is God breathed and therefore can only be understood through the power of the Spirit of God. Therefore, if you have not personally asked God to reveal its truth to you through the power of His Holy Spirit than of course you are seeing it as “a work of fiction” that makes perfect sense!
To those who can see the Bible as truth and who were offended by your words of understandable ignorance, I ask that you please consider giving an apology. Please know that whether you do or do not: “The grass withers and the flowers fade but the Word of God will last forever”
Some of my favorite words spoken by Jesus were his last when on the cross he said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”. If there is anyone who understands your heart and will bring you into absolute truth it is Jesus Christ. “Because God so loved the world and did not want ANYONE to perish”…He came to earth as Jesus (God with us) specifically to become the way through which everyone who believes this can receive the certainty that they will live forever in the very eternity that is so beautifully described in chapters 21 and 22 of Revelations.
I pray to one day see you there.
Shalom
I apologize for using the wrong name. How about that! It is a Mr. Lawrence O’Donnell I was to have been addressing.
Point and message remain the same.
Please forgive me.
