The 1-2 Punch for Religious Liberties at Work Print E-mail
Thursday, 25 February 2010 21:01

Larry GrardThe next round begins in the fight for religious liberties in the work place. Christian journalist Larry Grard was fired after 19 years working for Maine Today Newspaper because he stood for marriage.

After Maine’s voters upheld Christian marriage last November, a radical homosexual group sent a press release claiming the successful Yes on marriage campaign was built on "lies and hate." So Larry sent the group a private e-mail pointing out that it was the same-sex marriage proponents that lied and were hateful, not the Christians. The homosexual organization then tracked Larry down and put pressure on Main Today and Larry was fired.

We have urged MaineToday Media to remedy the situation by either reinstating Larry or enter into a just and mutually agreeable settlement. The deadline for that to occur has passed and now we are preparing to initiate a boycott.

Specifically, we are asking past advertisers to cease from advertising in any MaineToday Media publication until this matter is resolved. Our plan is to communicate with the people across the state of Maine, including those in the advertisers’ community, who supported the marriage amendment, and to urge them to not patronize businesses that advertise in MaineToday Media publications.

We have sent letters out informing each business of the pending boycott. On March 15th a list will be published and sent out informing people across Maine of these businesses that support MaineToday Media. The businesses have until March 15th to simply contact us and inform us of their commitment to stop advertising with MaineToday Media, and their name will be removed from the list.

We are determined to get justice for Larry, who stood with the majority of the citizens of Maine to defend marriage.

avatar I know exactly how Larry feels, as I too was once fired from my job for
attempting to share the gospel with a fellow employee. Unbeknownst to me, the
other employee was a radical feminist, but she kept that quiet at work, and went
behind my back and complained to management that I was "har***ing her"
and even alluded to it being of a sexual nature because I had said at one point
that I knew two people who loved her, Jesus and me. Of course, they fired me
