Christians Attacked in Malaysia Print E-mail

As the New Year begins more anti-Christian violence erupted from Muslims in Malaysia. The recent violent outbreak was Court Decides Use of triggered by a Malaysian court decision.

The new ruling allows non Muslims to use the word "Allah" in their prayers and literature. In many Muslim nations, the word Allah is used by Christians in their Bible translations to describe God.

Of the 28 million people who live in Malaysia 60 percent are Muslims and only 9 percent are Christian. Angry Muslims fear that Christians will intentionally use Allah’s name in a misleading way in order to proselytize Muslims.

Now the Malaysian government is appealing the ruling. But in the meantime six Christian churches were fire bombed in just one weekend.

Please email the United States embassy in Malaysia and urge them to protect our brothers and sisters in Christ in Malaysia.
